Compounds from Aquilaria sinensis against renal fibrosis in vitro

Abstract

Three previously undescribed compounds (1-3), including two sesquiterpenoids (1 and 2), one 2-(2-phenylethyl) chromone (3), along with six known compounds (4-9) were isolated from the heartwood of Aquilaria sinensis (Chinese agarwood). The structures of new compounds (1-3) were established by spectroscopic methods including UV, HRESIMS, 1D, 2D NMR, and the comparison of experimental and calculated ECD data. In addition, compounds 1-3 were found to show anti-renal fibrosis activity in TGF-β1-induced NRK-52e cells. The results have demonstrated that compound 3 inhibits renal fibrosis in a dose-dependent manner.
