Description

Pyrimidifen is a phenoxyethyl amine compound and is an acaricide. Pyrimidifen controls the African red mite, Eutetranychus africanus with a persistency of 14-21 days[1].

In Vivo

Pyrimidifen (10-20 mL per 20 liters of water; foliar spray; single application) provides rapid, highly efficacious control of African red mites on tangerine trees, with persistency of 14-21 days under rain-free conditions, though efficacy is shortened by rain within 2 hours post-application[1].

Animal Model: Eutetranychus africanus (Tucker)[1]
Dosage: 10 mL per 20 liters of water; 20 mL per 20 liters of water
Administration: foliar spray; single application
Result: Reduced mite populations to 0.36 female adults per leaf (10 mL dose, 1 day post-application, 1997 rainy trial).
Reduced mite populations to 0.59 female adults per leaf (20 mL dose, 1 day post-application, 1997 rainy trial).
Resulted in a mite population of 2.14 female adults per leaf (20 mL dose, 7 days post-application, 1997 rainy trial).

Reduced mite populations to 0.05 female adults per leaf (20 mL dose, 1 day post-application, 1999 rain-free trial).
Maintained significantly lower mite populations than untreated control (both doses, 14 days post-application, 1999 rain-free trial), with efficacy persistent for 14-21 days.
