Description

Rabbit Serum Albumin is a plasma protein derived from rabbits. Rabbit Serum Albumin can hydrolyze the carbamate pesticide carbaryl and induce fever in rabbits. Rabbit Serum Albumin can be used for biochemical and immunological research, including vaccine developing[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Rabbit Serum Albumin (3.5 mg, 0-5 h) is able to hydrolyze carbaryl in a time-dependent manner, with the specific carbarylase activity of 23 nmol of 1-naphthol/5 h/mg of protein[2].
Rabbit Serum Albumin can be conjugated to fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) to develop a vaccine candidate model for immunological research[4].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Rabbit Serum Albumin (200 μg, i.c.v., single dose) induces fever in rabbits[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: New Zealand White male rabbits (3.0-3.5 kg)[3]
Dosage: 200 μg
Administration: i.c.v., single dose
Result: Caused rectal temperature to gradually start to rise and a prolonged fever after 30 min.
Exhibited a maximum rise in the rectal temperature for 4 h after injection.
Did not induce any changes in the blood cell counts or plasma trace metal levels.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
