Description

BDH1 Protein, Human (His) is a recombinant Human BDH1. BDH1 catalyzes the reversible reduction of acetoacetate (AcAc) to 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB). BDH1 is the last enzyme of hepatic ketogenesis and the first enzyme of ketolysis[1].

Background

BDH1 catalyzes the reversible, NADH-dependent reduction of AcAc to D-3-hydroxy-n-butyrate (3HB) during ketogenesis in the liver and the opposite reaction during ketolysis in extra-hepatic tissues. Of note, BDH1 is enantioselective for D-3-hydroxybutyrate, and D-3-hydroxybutyrate is the only product of ketogenesis[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
