    Description

    Catalase Protein, Human is an approximately 60.0 kDa human catalase protein expressed in E.coli. Catalase is a key enzyme in metabolism of H2O2 and reactive nitrogen species, and its expression and localization is markedly altered in tumors[1].

    Background

    Catalase is a key antioxidant enzyme in the bodies defense against oxidative stress. Catalase converts the reactive oxygen species hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen and thereby mitigates the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide[1][2].

    Biological Activity

    Specific activity is 9471.979 units/mg. One unit will decompose 1.0 µmole of H2O2 per minute at pH 8.0 at 25 ℃.
