CD4 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P72904
COA Handling Instructions

CD4 is a glycoprotein critical in immune responses that binds to interleukin-16 and forms a homodimer. It enhances helper T cell-mediated immune responses and regulates processes such as defense against Gram-negative bacteria and calcium signaling. CD4 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived CD4 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His, C-6*His labeled tag. The total length of CD4 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is 368 a.a., with molecular weight of 43-60 kDa.

Background

CD4, a key glycoprotein involved in immune responses, is predicted to perform various functions, including interleukin-16 binding activity, interleukin-16 receptor activity, and protein homodimerization activity. Playing a critical role in helper T cell enhancement of the adaptive immune response, CD4 acts upstream of processes such as the defense response to Gram-negative bacteria, positive regulation of calcium-mediated signaling, and positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation. Positioned in the endoplasmic reticulum, on the external side of the plasma membrane, and within membrane rafts, CD4 exhibits biased expression in different tissues, particularly evident in the thymus with an expression level of RPKM 167.0, and the spleen with RPKM 15.0, underscoring its significance in immune function and its potential involvement in immunodeficiency 79.

Biological Activity

Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of NIH‑3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells. The ED50 this effect is 2.816 μg/mL, corresponding to a specific activity is 355.114 units/mg.

<1 EU/μg, determined by LAL method.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Shipping

Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
