Biological Activity
Description
CSPG4/MCSP Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived CSPG4/MCSP protein, expressed by HEK293, with N-His tag.
Background
NG2 is a proteoglycan that plays a role in cell proliferation and migration, stimulating endothelial cell motility during microvascular morphogenesis. It may also inhibit neurite outgrowth and growth cone collapse during axon regeneration. As a cell surface receptor for collagen alpha 2(VI), NG2 may confer cells the ability to migrate on that substrate. Through its extracellular N-terminus, NG2 binds growth factors and extracellular matrix proteases, modulating their activity. It may regulate MPP16-dependent degradation and invasion of type I collagen, participating in melanoma cell invasion properties. Additionally, NG2 can modulate the plasminogen system by enhancing plasminogen activation and inhibiting angiostatin. It also functions as a signal-transducing protein by binding scaffolding and signaling proteins through its cytoplasmic C-terminus. NG2 may promote retraction fiber formation and cell polarization through Rho GTPase activation. Furthermore, it stimulates alpha-4, beta-1 integrin-mediated adhesion and spreading by recruiting and activating a signaling cascade through CDC42, ACK1, and BCAR1. NG2 may also activate FAK and ERK1/ERK2 signaling cascades.

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).
Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.
Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.
