Description
BRAK14 is a CXC chemokine constitutively expressed at the mRNA level in certain normal tissues. CXCL14/BRAK Protein, Rat (N-His) is the recombinant rat-derived CXCL14/BRAK protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His labeled tag.
Background
CXCL14/BRAK belongs to the cytokine gene family which encodes secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. CXCL14/BRAK encoded the protein which is structurally related to the CXC (Cys-X-Cys) subfamily of cytokines. Members of this subfamily are characterized by two cysteines separated by a single amino acid. CXCL14/BRAK displays chemotactic activity for monocytes but not for lymphocytes, dendritic cells, neutrophils or macrophages. CXCL14/BRAK is involved in the homeostasis of monocyte-derived macrophages rather than in inflammation[1][2][3][4][5].
Verified Bioactivity
The biological activity determined by a chemotaxis bioassay using THP-1 Human monocytic leukemia cells. The ED50 for this effect is1.043 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity is 9.59×105 units/mg.
