Description

7α‐HSDH Protein, E.coli (His, Strep) is the recombinant E.coli-derived 7α‐HSDH protein, expressed by E. coli, with Strep & His tag.

Background

7α-HSDH is a 7alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase involved in bile acid metabolism. It catalyzes the NAD(+)-dependent oxidation of the 7alpha-hydroxy group of 7alpha-hydroxysteroids, such as the major human bile acids cholate and chenodeoxycholate, to the corresponding 7-oxosteroids. It can also act, though less efficiently, on taurochenodeoxycholate, taurocholate, and glycocholate. By similar function, it can use glycochenodeoxycholate as a substrate but cannot utilize NADP(+) instead of NAD(+) as the electron acceptor.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
