Background

IL-16, a multifunctional cytokine, elicits a migratory response in CD4+ lymphocytes, monocytes, and eosinophils. Additionally, it primes CD4+ T-cells for responsiveness to IL-2 and IL-15, and induces the expression of interleukin-2 receptor in T-lymphocytes. Functioning as a ligand for CD4, IL-16 plays a key role in cellular interactions and immune modulation. Beyond its immunomodulatory functions, IL-16 may serve as a scaffolding protein that anchors ion channels in the cell membrane, contributing to its diverse cellular effects.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
