Biological Activity
Description
IL-19 protein acts as an anti-inflammatory and pro-angiogenic cytokine. IL-19 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived IL-19 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.
Background
The IL-19 Protein serves a dual role as an anti-inflammatory and proangiogenic factor. It plays a crucial role in shaping adaptive immunity towards an anti-inflammatory phenotype by inducing T-helper 2 responses, achieved through the down-regulation of IFN-gamma and the up-regulation of IL4 and IL13. Produced by osteocytes, IL-19 also contributes to granulopoiesis and the formation of neutrophils. Its biological effects are mediated through a receptor complex comprising the IL20RA and IL20RB heterodimer. Upon binding, IL-19 activates the Janus kinase (JAK) and signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) pathway, particularly emphasizing STAT3 activation, highlighting its pivotal role in diverse immunomodulatory functions.
Verified Bioactivity
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using BaF3 mouse pro-B cells transfected with human IL20 Rα and human IL20 Rβ. The ED50 for this effect is typically 4.1ng/mL.
