Biological Activity

Description

IRF9 Protein, Human (Sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived IRF9 protein, expressed by E. coli, with His tag.

Background

IRF9 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in antiviral immunity. It mediates signaling through type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta). Upon binding of type I IFNs to cell surface receptors, Jak kinases (TYK2 and JAK1) are activated, leading to tyrosine phosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT2. IRF9/ISGF3G then associates with the phosphorylated STAT1:STAT2 dimer to form the ISGF3 transcription factor complex, which translocates into the nucleus. ISGF3 binds to the interferon-stimulated response element (ISRE) to activate the transcription of interferon-stimulated genes, thereby driving the cell into an antiviral state.
