Background
PET hydrolase is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of cutin, a polyester forming the structure of plant cuticle (Probable). It exhibits esterase activity toward p-nitrophenol-linked aliphatic esters (pNP-aliphatic esters) (by similar: PubMed:23604968, PubMed:25545638). Additionally, this enzyme is capable of degrading poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), the most abundant polyester plastic globally (by similar: PubMed:25545638, PubMed:32269349).
