UBAP1 Protein, Human (His)

The UBAP1 protein is a component of the ESCRT-I complex (PubMed:21757351, PubMed:22405001, PubMed:31203368) and binds to ubiquitinated cargo proteins, promoting their sorting into multivesicular bodies (MVBs) (PubMed:21757351, PubMed :22405001). UBAP1 Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived UBAP1 protein, expressed by E. coli , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Biological Activity

Description

The UBAP1 protein is a component of the ESCRT-I complex (PubMed:21757351, PubMed:22405001, PubMed:31203368) and binds to ubiquitinated cargo proteins, promoting their sorting into multivesicular bodies (MVBs) (PubMed:21757351, PubMed :22405001). UBAP1 Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived UBAP1 protein, expressed by E. coli , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Background

UBAP1 protein functions as a pivotal component of the ESCRT-I complex, a crucial regulator of vesicular trafficking processes. Within this complex, UBAP1 plays a central role in binding to ubiquitinated cargo proteins, facilitating the sorting of endocytic ubiquitinated cargos into multivesicular bodies (MVBs). This activity is essential for the proper cellular sorting and degradation of ubiquitinated cell-surface proteins, including EGFR and BST2, through the proteasomal pathway. UBAP1 participates in an ESCRT-I complex, alongside TSG101, VPS28, and VPS37A, forming a well-balanced 1:1:1:1 stoichiometry. Additionally, UBAP1 interacts with PTPN23 and ubiquitinated proteins through its UBA domains, underscoring its significance in coordinating cellular processes related to vesicle trafficking, protein sorting, and degradation.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.
