Description

VCAM-1 protein is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It can act as a regulator of capillary formation and liver fibrosis, and can promote liver fibrosis.VCAM-1 Protein plays an important role in immune response and inflammatory response.VCAM-1/CD106 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived VCAM-1/CD106 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Background

VCAM-1 protein supports leukocyte adhesion by binding to α4β1 integrin and is crucial for the recruitment of monocytes and lymphocytes during inflammation[1][5].
VCAM-1 Protein is a regulator of capillary formation and hepatic fibrosis in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs). VCAM-1 Protein can activate the Yes-associated protein 1 pathway and induce fibrosis phenotypes in HSCs[2].
VCAM-1 Protein causes persistent inflammation by inhibiting effective T cell apoptosis[3].
VCAM-1 protein causes persistent inflammation by inhibiting the apoptosis of effector T cells[3].
VCAM-1 protein plays an important role in regulating immune response and inflammatory response to viral infection[4].
VCAM-1 Protein is necessary for smooth muscle cell migration. Targeting VCAM-1 expression can effectively prevent and treat atherosclerosis and restenosis[5].

Biological Activity

Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support adhesion of U937 human histiocytic lymphoma cells.

Molecular Weight

Approximately 80-100 kDa, based on SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, due to the glycosylation.

Glycosylation
Yes
Purity

≥ 95%, as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE or Bis-Tris PAGE.

Appearance

Lyophilized powder.

Formulation

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of PBS, pH 7.4. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween 80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.

Endotoxin Level

<1 EU/μg, determined by LAL method.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O.

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Shipping

Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Reconstitution Calculator

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
