Xylenol orange tetrasodium salt, IND binds Zn 2+ under physiological pH, and its Zn-XO complex allows visual differentiation between tartrate and malate ions. Xylenol orange tetrasodium salt, IND undergoes decolorization upon oxidation by hydrogen peroxide, undergoes a Co (II)-catalyzed pseudo-second-order reaction in a strong alkaline environment, and regulates the ferrous ion oxidation process mediated by peroxy radicals. Xylenol orange tetrasodium salt, IND forms colored ternary complexes with various anions, cations and iron-alanine, which is suitable for spectrophotometric quantification and can also be used for alanine irradiation dose detection. Xylenol orange tetrasodium salt, IND is applicable to EDTA metal titration analysis under acidic conditions .

Met-AMC is a fluorescent substrate used to detect the activity of methionine aminopeptidase (MetAP). Hydrolysis of the substrate releases the fluorophore AMC, with detection performed at an excitation wavelength of 360 nm and an emission wavelength of 460 nm. Met-AMC can distinguish the effects of different metal cofactors on the substrate preference of MetAP1: Zn (II)-MetAP1 barely hydrolyzes Met-AMC, while Co (II)-, Mn (II)-, and Ni (II)-MetAP1 can stably cleave this substrate.
