EF24, a curcumin analogue, is an NF-kB inhibitor with great anti-tumor efficacy and oral bioavailability via deactivation of the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). EF24 is active against melanoma and breast cancer cell lines with GI50 values of 0.7 μM and 0.8 μM, respectively. EF24 induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells and DU-145 human prostate cancer cells. EF24 increases the levels of activated caspase 3 and 9, and decreases the phosphorylated forms of MEK1 and ERK .

Wheat Germ Agglutinin (WGA) (Biotinylated), a type of plant lectin that binds to biotin, is a hevein class N-acetylglucosamine-binding protein found in wheat. Wheat germ agglutinin induces apoptosis in leukemic Jurkat cells via loss of transmembrane potential, mitochondrial membrane disruption, cytochrome c release, and caspase-9 activation . Wheat Germ Agglutinin undergoes surface functionalization with nanoparticles, liposomes, and other carriers for biomedical applications. Wheat Germ Agglutinin can be used as a nanoparticle stabilizer, antifungal agent, and cytotoxic agent .

Target:

Microtubule/Tubulin

Research Areas:

Cancer

IRC-083927 hydrochloride is an orally active tubulin inhibitor. IRC-083927 hydrochloride binds competitively to the colchicine-binding site on tubulin, inhibits tubulin polymerization, disrupts the microtubule cytoskeleton, and arrests the cell cycle at the G2-M phase. IRC-083927 hydrochloride can be used in research related to human cervical cancer, hormone-independent breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, and small cell lung cancer .
