NPD-008 is a tetrahydrophthalazinone-based phosphodiesterase inhibitor. It exerts antiparasitic activity by binding to the active site of TbrPDEB1 to block cAMP degradation, increasing intracellular cAMP levels in trypanosomatid parasites, disrupting cellular structure, and inhibiting cytokinesis. NPD-008 is used in research on Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, and human African trypanosomiasis .
