Biological Activity
Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na) is one of the most important derivatives of cellulose. CMC-Na act as a good binder because of their chemical interaction of the elements. CMC-Na having great ability to poly sulfide capturing capacity. The CMC-Na polymer has been extensively used in thickening agents in textile print pastes and textile finishing and sizing agents. In addition, CMC-Na can be used as an emulsifying agent and is applicable as a protective colloid for oil-in-water emulsions. In terms of applications CMC-Na is an important industrial polymer that has been employed in drug reduction, textiles, flocculation, foods, drug formulations, detergents, and paper. The CMC-Na also broadly applied as an adsorbent for the removal of metal ions because it contains numerous active functional groups, including hydroxyl and carboxyl groups which can chelates with metal ions and interact with organic compounds[1].
