Background
-
Function
PACSIN3 plays a role in endocytosis and regulates internalization of plasma membrane proteins. Overexpression impairs internalization of SLC2A1/GLUT1 and TRPV4 and increases the levels of SLC2A1/GLUT1 and TRPV4 at the cell membrane. Inhibits the TRPV4 calcium channel activity

Expression
Tissue_specificity:This gene is widely expressed in various tissues, with the highest concentrations in the heart and skeletal muscle, moderate concentrations in the placenta, liver, and pancreas, and extremely low concentrations in the brain, lungs, and kidneys. -
Subunit
Homodimer. May form heterooligomers with other PACSINs.
