Biological Activity: SB87-Cl is a halogenated benzophenone antibiotic that can be isolated from fungi of the genus Pestalotiopsis. SB87-Cl exhibits strong antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, but is accompanied by cytotoxicity to mammalian cells. SB87-Cl can be used in studies of Staphylococcus aureus infection, methicillin (Methicillin (HY-121544))-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection, and vancomycin (Vancomycin (HY-B0671))-susceptible Enterococcus faecium (VSE) infection[1].
