Biological Activity: AZ11657312 is a P2X7 receptor antagonist with activity to restore stress natriuresis. AZ11657312 significantly increased renal medullary perfusion, only in mice treated with angiotensin II. AZ11657312 improves tissue oxygenation by blocking P2X7R, especially in areas of the kidney that are underoxygenated. Administration of AZ11657312 increased sodium excretion up to sixfold while normalizing blood pressure[1].
