Flunitrazolam (compound 36) acts as a positive allosteric modulator of α1β2γ2 GABA_A receptors in CHO cells, and its activity depends on the classical BZD α⁺/γ2^- binding pocket.^[1]
Flunitrazolam (FNTZ) undergoes biotransformation, and 7-amino-FNTZ and 7-acetamido-FNTZ are its main detectable metabolites in urine; moreover, in human liver microsomes, 7-amino-FNTZ is the only metabolite of flunitrazolam produced under the study conditions^[2].
