Phenylephrine hydrochlorid is an α1-adrenergic receptor agonist. As a sympathomimetic agent, Phenylephrine hydrochlorid exerts similar effects to epinephrine and ephedrine. Phenylephrine hydrochlorid induces vasoconstriction and increases perfusion pressure.

Phenylephrine hydrochloride maintains physical and chemical stability for at least 30 days at -20 °C, 3-5 °C, and 23-25 °C, with the observed degradation rate being less than 2% under all conditions, when diluted to 100 µg/mL with 0.9% sodium chloride injection and stored in polypropylene syringes[1].
