SQN400 (m-THPBC) is a near-infrared Photosensitizer and singlet oxygen-mediated photodynamic tissue necrosis inducer. SQN400 is activated by near-infrared light at a wavelength of 740 nm. SQN400 exhibits a dose threshold in photodynamic liver necrosis, beyond which the extent of necrosis correlates with the light product. SQN400 induces full-thickness necrosis in implanted mouse colorectal tumors. SQN400 is used in the study of colorectal adenocarcinoma.

SQN400 (1.2 mg/kg; i.v.; once; 24 h before irradiation) undergoes rapid in vivo photobleaching in Colo26 tumors in BALB/c mice and, in combination with 739 nm light, produces full-thickness tumor necrosis^[1].

Others

SQN400 (0.5 mg/kg; once; 24 h before irradiation) is optimally activated in normal Wistar rat liver under 738.9 nm near-infrared light^[1].

Result:

Bleached rapidly, with almost no photosensitizer fluorescence detectable from the tumor surface after 30 s of irradiation.
Showed an initial bleaching rate approximately 20 times greater than that of mTHPC under similar conditions.
Produced full-thickness tumor necrosis in all animals at 1.2 mg/kg with 3 J cm^-2 of 739 nm light 24 h after administration, with tumor thickness ranging from 3.7 to 5.0 mm.
