Pentoxazone
Pentoxazone is a protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase (PPO)-inhibiting herbicide. Pentoxazone inhibits chlorophyll and heme synthesis, drives protoporphyrinogen IX accumulation and oxidation, and generates singlet oxygen to oxidize cell membranes and induce cell damage.Pentoxazone suppresses fresh weight growth of multiple weed species and shows low activity against weedy rice. Pentoxazone can be used for the research of direct-seeding rice field weed management.

Biological Activity
Pentoxazone (225-450 g/hm2; 21 d post-treatment) exhibits broad-spectrum herbicidal activity against direct-seeding rice field weeds, with >90% fresh weight inhibition of 5 weed species at 225 g/hm2 and 7 weed species at 450 g/hm2, while showing low activity against Oryza sativa f. spontanea[1].
Pentoxazone (60-600 g/hm2) has high herbicidal activity against Echinochloa crus-galli, Digitaria sanguinalis, Eclipta prostrata, and Cyperus iria, with GR50 values ranging from 82.15 to 189.17 g/hm2 and GR90 values ranging from 158.60 to 513.01 g/hm2[1].
Pentoxazone (450-1800 g/hm2; 4 times) is safe for 8 tested main rice varieties at doses up to 1800 g/hm2, with plant height inhibition rates of 1.89%-5.16% and fresh weight inhibition rates of 1.47%-4.14% at the highest tested dose[1].
Pentoxazone (0-2700 g/hm2) has good selectivity between 4 tested rice varieties and 4 direct-seeding rice field weeds, with selectivity indexes ranging from 3.27 to 28.24, and shows better selectivity between rice and Eclipta prostrata, Cyperus iria than the reference herbicide[1].
