Description

fMIFL is a formyl tetrapeptide derived from Staphylococcus aureus, and also an agonist of mouse formyl peptide receptor 1 (mFPR1). It exhibits nanomolar activity against mFPR1 and micromolar activity against mFPR2. fMIFL is applicable to studies related to bacterial infections[2].

In Vitro

fMIFL (EC50 value; 60 min) potently induces chemotaxis in human neutrophils with an EC50 of 0.30 nM[1].
fMIFL (EC50 value; 15 min) potently induces superoxide anion production in human neutrophils with an EC50 of 1.5 nM[1].
fMIFL (EC50 value) potently induces intracellular calcium mobilization in human neutrophils with an EC50 of 0.09 nM[1].
fMIFL (1 pM-10 μM) potently activates mFPR1 in transfected RBL-2H3 cells, with an EC50 of ~10 nM for calcium mobilization[2].
fMIFL (10 nM-1 μM; 2 min-5 min) induces robust ERK1/2 phosphorylation in mFPR1-transfected RBL-2H3 cells at both 10 nM and 1 μM, with 10 nM fMIFL showing greater potency than 10 nM fMLF[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Western Blot Analysis[2]

Cell Line: RBL-2H3 cells stably transfected with mouse formyl peptide receptor 1 (mFPR1)
Concentration: 10 nM, 1 μM (ERK1/2 phosphorylation assay)
Incubation Time: 2 min, 5 min (ERK1/2 phosphorylation assay)
Result: Induced ERK1/2 phosphorylation to similar extents at 10 nM and 1 μM.
Showed greater potency at 10 nM than fMLF, which required 1 μM for equivalent phosphorylation.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
