Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
Hexylcaine hydrochloride (Cyclain hydrochloride) is used at a concentration of approximately 0.75%-1% in local and regional nerve blocks[1].
Spinal anesthesia with Hexylcaine hydrochloride typically produces the desired anesthetic level within approximately 3-5 min, with an observed anesthetic duration of about 60-90 min[1].
The dosage of Hexylcaine hydrochloride for single spinal anesthesia ranges from 15-50 mg; in cases where 15-20 mg is administered, anesthetic effect sufficient to complete surgical procedures is achieved[1].
A 0.5% solution of Hexylcaine hydrochloride is used for local infiltration anesthesia, with a dosage of 5-150 mL per case. It exhibits rapid onset, good diffusibility and deep anesthetic effect[2].
A 1% solution of Hexylcaine hydrochloride is used for hyperbaric spinal anesthesia, with a single dose of 40-50 mg. Anesthesia develops rapidly within 3-5 min and persists until the completion of the procedure[2].
A 0.25% solution of Hexylcaine hydrochloride at a dose of 25-37.5 mg is used for low-specific-gravity spinal anesthesia. Anesthesia sets in within 3-7 min, and the procedure can be completed without supplementary administration[2].
