Homopropargylglycine is a Methionine (HY-13694) analogue. Homopropargylglycine is incorporated at a suitable rate into newly synthesized proteins in a variety of systems, including mammalian cell culture. Homopropargylglycine can be used to identify old and new protein populations. Homopropargylglycine is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Alkyne group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.

Description

Homopropargylglycine is a Methionine (HY-13694) analogue. Homopropargylglycine is incorporated at a suitable rate into newly synthesized proteins in a variety of systems, including mammalian cell culture. Homopropargylglycine can be used to identify old and new protein populations[1]. Homopropargylglycine is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Alkyne group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.

In Vitro

Homopropargylglycine enables Bio-Orthogonal Non-Canonical Amino acid Tagging (BONCAT) of a small sample of the proteins being synthesized in Arabidopsis plants or cell cultures, facilitating their click-chemistry enrichment for analysis[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
