DOPE-PEG2000-ESBP: surface decoration of liposomes and nanoparticles for vascular endothelial cell-targeted drug delivery, applicable in anti-angiogenic research, cardiovascular disease treatment, and vascular inflammation therapy.
Structural composition:
(1) DOPE; a fusogenic phospholipid with two oleoyl chains that anchors into lipid bilayers and promotes pH-dependent membrane fusion for intracellular drug release;
(2) PEG2000; a hydrophilic polymer that provides steric stabilization, reduces opsonization and immune clearance, and extends circulation half-life;
(3) ESBP peptide; an endothelial cell-specific binding peptide that specifically recognizes and binds to surface markers on vascular endothelial cells (including tumor angiogenic endothelium), directing nanocarriers to blood vessel linings for targeted delivery of anti-angiogenic agents, vasodilators, or anti-inflammatory drugs to the vascular compartment.
