Mepiquat chloride
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Mepiquat chloride (N,N-Dimethylpiperidinium chloride) is a systemic plant growth regulator. Mepiquat chloride reduces the activity of RuBP carboxylase. Mepiquat chloride decreases plant height, total length of vegetative and fruiting branches, and total leaf area of cotton. Mepiquat chloride reduces the net photosynthetic rate of cotton leaves. Mepiquat chloride promotes starch accumulation in cotton leaves without altering sucrose content.

Biological Activity
Mepiquat chloride (7.65-61.2 g active ingredient ha-1; up to 21 days after treatment) reduces plant height, stem elongation, branch length, leaf area, net photosynthetic rate, and RuBP carboxylase activity, increases chlorophyll (leaf area basis) and starch content, and does not alter sucrose content in Gossypium hirsutum L. cv. DES 119 cotton plants, with the highest tested concentration (61.2 g active ingredient ha-1) causing a 50% reduction in stem elongation rate and 25% reductions in net photosynthetic rate and RuBP carboxylase activity relative to controls[1].
