Methyl blue is widely used as antiseptic dye in polychrome staining method and has applications in histological and microbiological staining solutions. Methyl blue has been used as a model to study the effect of various catalysts on photodegradation of dyes.

Biological Activity
Methyl Blue spectrum shows a slight red shift of λmax and an increase of the absorbance in the presence of TX-100[1].
Methyl blue is adsorbed on ZnO nanoparticles, and the capacity reaches 10.70 mmol/g[3].
