Description

Pisum sativum Agglutinin (PSA) FITC is a plant lectin conjugated with FITC (HY-66019). Pisum sativum Agglutinin FITC serves as an acrosome stain for detecting the acrosomal status of sperm. Pisum sativum Agglutinin exhibits lymphocyte mitogenic and immunomodulatory activities[1][2].

In Vitro

Pisum sativum Agglutinin FITC combined with Hoechst 33258 enables accurate detection of acrosomal status and viability in porcine and caprine sperm, serving as an effective method for evaluating sperm function[1].
Pisum sativum Agglutinin (1-10 μg/mL; 24 h) FITC stimulates the supernatant of naive C57BL/6 mouse spleen cells and induces thioglycolate-elicited mouse peritoneal macrophages to produce nitric oxide in a dose‑dependent manner[2].
Pisum sativum Agglutinin (1-3 μg/mL; 24 h) FITC induces substantial production of IFNγ and TNFα in splenocytes from naive C57BL/6 mice[2].
Pisum sativum Agglutinin (3 μg/mL; 24 h) FITC activates naive CD3+ splenocytes from C57BL/6 mice within 24 h, upregulates the expression of CD69 and downregulates the expression of L-selectin, but does not alter the expression of CD122 or VLA-4[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Pisum Sativum Agglutinin (200 µg; intravenous injection; single administration) FITC activates CD3+ splenic lymphocytes in male C57BL/6 mice[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: C57Bl/6 (male, 6-8 weeks old)[2]
Dosage: 200 µg
Administration: i.v.; single dose
Result: Reduced proliferative response of spleen mononuclear cells to in vitro mitogenic stimuli at 24, 48, and 72 hours post-injection; blocked almost completely lectin-induced proliferation and inhibited PMA + ionomycin-induced proliferation at 24 hours.
Increased percentage of CD3+ spleen cells at 24 hours post-injection; maintained unchanged CD4/CD8 ratio.
Increased percentage of CD3+ cells expressing activation marker CD69 and expressing CD122 at 24 hours post-injection.
Decreased expression of L-selectin in CD3+ cells with no significant change in VLA-4 expression at 24 hours post-injection.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
