CD20/MS4A1 Protein-Nanodisc, Human (HEK293, His)

Customer Review

Based on 1 Customer Validation

CD20/MS4A1 Protein-Nanodisc, Human (HEK293, His) is produced using our proprietary Nanodisc platform. This platform employs styrene-maleic acid (SMA) copolymer technology, which enables detergent-free, direct extraction of membrane proteins from both prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems. The SMA copolymer integrates into the lipid bilayer and excises ~10 nm membrane discs that contain the embedded target protein, effectively preserving its native conformation and biological activity. The resulting lipid–protein complexes can be readily purified by standard chromatographic methods.Compared with conventional membrane scaffold protein (MSP)-based nanodiscs, SMA nanodiscs maintain the native lipid environment surrounding the target protein without introducing exogenous protein scaffolds. This offers a more physiologically relevant context for structural and functional characterization, and provides a distinct advantage in membrane protein functional screening and drug discovery applications.

Background

The CD20/MS4A1 protein, a B-lymphocyte-specific membrane protein, plays a crucial role in regulating cellular calcium influx essential for the development, differentiation, and activation of B-lymphocytes. It functions as a component of the store-operated calcium (SOC) channel, promoting calcium influx upon activation by the B-cell receptor/BCR. CD20/MS4A1 forms homotetramers, contributing to its structural organization and functional role in calcium signaling. Notably, it interacts with both the heavy and light chains of cell surface IgM, the antigen-binding components of the BCR, highlighting its involvement in the B-cell receptor complex and underscoring its significance in B-cell activation and immune responses.
