Background

GASP-1/WFIKKN2 is a multifaceted protease inhibitor that possesses multiple distinct domains and exhibits a range of potential inhibitory activities against serine proteases and metalloproteases. This protein exerts an inhibitory effect on the biological activity of mature myostatin, while activin is unaffected. GASP-1/WFIKKN2 binds to both the mature and propeptide forms of myostatin/MSTN, thereby contributing to the complex regulation of protease activity in biological systems.

Verified Bioactivity

Measured by its ability to inhibit trypsin cleavage of a fluorogenic peptide substrate, Mca-RPKPVE-Nval-WRK(Dnp)-NH2 (HY-P2185A) that incubate at room temperature. The IC50 is 0.969 nM.
