Description

Ro 20-0083 is an orally active pancreatic lipase inhibitor. Ro 20-0083 inhibits hPancreatic lipase activity, reduces lipid absorption and de novo fatty acid synthesis. Ro 20-0083 decreases food intake in Zucker rats. Ro 20-0083 can be used in obesity-related research[1].

In Vitro

Ro 20-0083 inhibits human pancreatic lipase in an in vitro assay[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Ro 20-0083 (240 mg/kg body weight; p.o. via diet admixture) produces a significant, dose-matched anorectic effect in both obese and lean male Zucker rats, reducing 24-hour food intake by 56-72%[1].
Chronic administration of Ro 20-0083 (250 mg/kg) reduces body weight gain, as well as decreases body fat and triglyceride levels, in obese female Zucker rats[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
