SET-12 is also effective against the non-flagellated form within cells, with an IC₅₀ of 3.81 μM and a further increased selectivity index (SI) to 34.5. SET-12 causes signs of parasite cell apoptosis, including mitochondrial damage and accumulation of ROS .
