Sodium hexadecyl sulfate
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Sodium hexadecyl sulfate is a long-chain anionic surfactant. Sodium hexadecyl sulfate can act as an interface-regulating substance to form a soft layer on the surface of carbon nanotubes, guide proteins to adsorb in the correct orientation with active sites facing outward through electrostatic interactions, and significantly enhance the activity of immobilized enzymes. Sodium hexadecyl sulfate can replace or supplement SDS (HY-Y0316) in capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE).

Biological Activity
Sodium hexadecyl sulfate assembles into a soft layered structure on the surface of carbon nanotubes, and rearranges into a saddle-like structure upon interaction with lysozyme. It maintains the accessibility of lysozyme's active site by adjusting the orientation of lysozyme, while functionalizing carbon nanotubes to improve their water dispersibility and promote lysozyme adsorption[1].
Sodium hexadecyl sulfate eliminates the dependence of aggregate quantification on protein loading amount, aligns the detection level with the results of size-exclusion chromatography, thereby reducing method-induced false-positive artifacts of aggregates in non-reducing capillary gel electrophoresis, and also enhances the denaturation of therapeutic proteins[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
