Diethatyl
Diethatyl is a pre-planting and pre-emergence herbicide, which is a metabolite of diethatyl-ethyl. Diethatyl reduces competition by inhibiting weed growth, and is mainly used to control annual grass weeds, broadleaf weeds and Cyperus rotundus in crop fields such as sugar beet, spinach and cotton. Diethatyl can be used in research related to agricultural weed control.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
Diethatyl (1.7-6.7 kg/ha; spray blade application), (1.7-3.4 kg/ha; rotary tiller application), and (2.2-4.5 kg/ha; disc harrow application) inhibit aboveground shoot germination of yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus), achieve control efficacies of 51% to 83%, reduce its tuber population density, and protect the yield of seed cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. 'Acala SF-2') under field conditions in Wasco fine sandy loam soil[1].
