XuBP
XuBP is a Rubisco inhibitor with a Ki of approximately 1.3 µM. XuBP binds to uncarbamylated Rubisco to form an inactive complex. XuBP acts as a substrate for Rubisco and undergoes a slow carboxylation reaction to produce two molecules of 3-phosphoglycerate.

Biological Activity
XuBP acts as a potent competitive inhibitor of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) from Rhodobacter sphaeroides, with a Ki value of approximately 1.3 µM[1].
The carbamylation-free *Rhodobacter sphaeroides* Rubisco bound with XuBP (30 µM) can only fully refold when treated with Rubisco activase, ATP, and RsCbbY simultaneously, because RsCbbY can hydrolyze and release XuBP to prevent its re-inhibition[1].
XuBP is the preferred substrate of CbbY from Rhodobacter sphaeroides and Arabidopsis thaliana[1].
