3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid is a biochemical reagent with multiple functions including nanoparticle enhancement, perovskite passivation, fluorescence quenching, and adhesion. 3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid improves tumor penetration and pulmonary retention of nanoparticles, and serves as a tumor-targeting ligand for carboxymethyl chitosan nanoparticles. 3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid optimizes film crystallization via coordinate chelation of free lead/iodide ions in perovskites. 3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid acts as an additive for n-i-p perovskite solar cells. Conjugation of 3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid with PPEG8 quenches the near-infrared fluorescence of single-walled carbon nanotubes, enabling aqueous dispersion of carbon nanotubes through binding to the diol structure of saccharides.

Biological Activity
3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid modifies carboxymethyl chitosan nanoparticles (CB NPs), and the obtained CB NPs possess higher cellular uptake and Doxorubicin (HY-15142A) delivery efficiency within SH-SY5Y and H22 cells after 4 h incubation relative to unmodified nanoparticles; these modified nanoparticles display improved accumulation and penetration in SH-SY5Y multicellular spheroids and generate stronger proliferation suppression against the spheroids[1].
3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid optimizes the performance of ITO/SnO2/perovskite/spiro-OMeTAD/MoO3/Ag n-i-p perovskite films and devices: it chelates free lead ions to passivate film defects, increases grain size, narrows grain boundaries, and reduces surface roughness to 23.92 nm to improve crystallinity; meanwhile, it regulates energy levels, narrows the band gap, enhances visible light absorption, reduces trap-mediated non-radiative recombination, elevates open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current density and fill factor, and improves the photoelectric conversion efficiency of devices[2].
3-Carboxyphenylboronic acid conjugated with eight-branched polyethylene glycol polymer realizes stable dispersion of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), effectively quenches the near-infrared fluorescence of (9,4)-type SWNTs, and binds fructose to reduce the fluorescence intensity of ARS complex[3].
