Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride is a psoralen derivative. Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride can penetrate intact cells and react with nucleic acid secondary structures in vivo without disrupting the tissue structure of natural nucleoproteins. Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride inactivates viruses by crosslinking nucleic acid pyrimidine residues after exposure to UV-A radiation. Description

Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride can be used in research related to dengue virus infection[1][2].

In Vitro

Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride (50 μg/mL; with UV irradiation) crosslinks double-stranded RNA purified from HeLa cell hnRNP particles in vitro, resulting in a 39.6% snapback fraction (4.4-fold increase over control)[1].
Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride (10 μg/mL) fully inactivates dengue-1 virus (Western Pacific 74 strain) propagated in Aedes albopticus C6/36 clonal cell culture[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Aminomethyltrioxsalen hydrochloride (10 μg/mL; added to DENV-1 cell culture supernatant; combined with UVA radiation (200 μW/cm2 for 10 minutes)) in combination with UVA radiation effectively inactivates DENV-1 while preserving viral immunogenicity, leading to reduced viremia in vaccinated Aotus nancymaae monkeys following DENV-1 challenge[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Aotus nancymaae (adult, dengue-naïve, ≥700g mass)[2]
Dosage: 10 μg/mL
Administration: added to DENV-1 cell culture supernatant; combined with UVA radiation (200 μW/cm2 for 10 minutes)
Result: Successfully inactivated DENV-1, as confirmed by absence of plaque formation in BHK-21 cells.
Induced anti-DENV-1 IgG and neutralizing antibody responses in vaccinated monkeys.
Reduced mean days of viremia from 3.67 in control animals to 0.71 in vaccinated animals post-DENV-1 challenge.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
