Biological Activity: Terminolic acid is a pentacyclic triterpene glycoside and antibacterial agent. Terminolic acid can be isolated from Combretum racemosum. Terminolic acid inhibits proinflammatory cytokines by binding to the receptor active sites of IL-1β and IL-6. Terminolic acid reduces IL-8. Terminolic acid has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis with MICs ranging from 64 to 256 μg/mL. Terminolic acid is used in colon cancer research[1][2][3].
