Curvulol
Curvulol is an antimicrobial agent with a polyketide structure. Curvulol can be isolated from Taxus baccata ( Chaetosphaeronema achilleae). Curvulol has a significant cytotoxicity against L929 and KB-3-1 cells, and strongly inhibits Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formation with a MIC of 64 μg/mL.

Activité biologique
Curvulol (Compound 7) shows an antimicrobial activity against Rhodoturula glutinis DSM 10134, Schizosaccharomyces pombe DSM 70572, Staphylococcus aureus DSM 346 and Bacillus subtilis DSM 10 with a MIC of 33.33 μg/mL[1].
Curvulol has a significant cytotoxicity with IC50 s of 5.5 and 7.5 μg/mL for L929 and KB-3-1 cells, respectively[1].
Curvulol (4-256 μg/mL) strongly inhibits Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formation of 96.18% at 256 μg/mL, and with a MIC of 64 μg/mL[1].
