D-mannoheptulose is a specific inhibitor of D-glucose phosphorylation by hexokinase isoenzymes. D-Mannoheptulose can block insulin release and utilization of carbohydrate in rat. D-Mannoheptulose has various functions as anti-oxidants, anticancer effects and energy sources.
