Description

FITC-D-Glucose is a fluorescently labeled glucose derivative and an orally effective bacterial metabolic activity detection probe. FITC-D-Glucose is applicable to the research of cholera[1].

In Vitro

FITC-D-Glucose (1 μL in 10 mL Met-free MM medium; 30 min at 37 °C) labeling reveals that flhB mutant V. cholerae has 1.7-fold higher in vitro metabolic activity than wild-type, while flaA mutant has 0.6-fold lower in vitro metabolic activity than wild-type[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

FITC-D-Glucose (0.1 mM; p.o.; single administration of 100 μL) labels metabolically active V. cholerae in adult mice. Studies show that the proportion of highly metabolically active cells in the ΔflhB mutant strain is 7 times that of the wild-type strain, while this proportion in the ΔflaA mutant strain is only 0.2 times that of the wild-type strain[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
