Mmp10 - matrix metallopeptidase 10 Gene
Also Known as SL-2; MMP-10
Species: Mus musculus
About Mmp10
This gene has 1 transcript (splice variant), 417 orthologues, 23 paralogues and is associated with 4 phenotypes. Biased expression in large intestine adult (RPKM 4.9), duodenum adult (RPKM 2.4) and 2 other tissues.
Summary
This gene encodes a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family of extracellular matrix-degrading Enzymes that are involved in tissue remodeling, wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis and tumor invasion. The encoded preproprotein undergoes proteolytic processing to generate a mature, zinc-dependent endopeptidase enzyme. The lack of encoded protein in mice promotes experimental lung Cancer formation, exacerbates experimental colitis and promotes development of inflammation-associated colonic dysplasia. This gene is located in a cluster of Other matrix metalloproteinase genes on chromosome 9. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]
