Description

Kalopanaxsaponin I (Septemloside I) is an oleanane-type triterpenoid that exists in the fruits of Stauntonia brachyanthera. Kalopanaxsaponin I inhibits LPS (HY-D1056)-induced nitric oxide production in macrophages, with a IC50 of 80.25 μM[1].

In Vitro

Kalopanaxsaponin I (6.25-100 μM; 24-25 h) inhibits LPS-induced nitric oxide production in RAW 264.7 macrophages with an IC50 of 80.25 μM, and exhibits no cytotoxicity at concentrations up to 100 μM[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Cytotoxicity Assay[1]

Cell Line: RAW 264.7 macrophages
Concentration: 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50, 100 μM
Incubation Time: 24 h (NO inhibition assay); 25 h (MTT cytotoxicity assay)
Result: Inhibited nitric oxide production by 5.47% at 6.25 μM, 11.76% at 12.5 μM, 25.83% at 25 μM, 34.12% at 50 μM, and 56.8% at 100 μM.
Reached an IC50 of 80.25 μM for nitric oxide inhibition.
Showed no cytotoxicity at all tested concentrations.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
