Pinellic acid
Pinellic acid is an orally active adjuvant for intranasal influenza vaccines. Pinellic acid can be extracted from the tubers of Pinellia ternata Breitenbach. When administered intranasally in combination with influenza HA vaccine, Pinellic acid slightly increases the titers of antiviral IgG antibodies in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and serum. Pinellic acid shows no hemolytic activity. Pinellic acid can be used in studies related to influenza virus infection.

Biological Activity
Pinellic acid (up to 200 μg/mL) shows no hemolytic activity against sheep red blood cells at concentrations up to 200 μg/mL[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
Pinellic acid (1 μg per mouse; intranasal administration; mixed with intranasal influenza HA vaccine dose) slightly enhances antigen-specific antiviral IgG titers in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and serum of BALB/c mice, but does not increase antiviral IgA titers in nasal cavity or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
