Linolenic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide (Example 1) is an amphiphilic lipid bearing a Zn (II)-dipicolylamine complex and a linolenic acid hydrophobic tail group, which binds nucleic acids. Linolenic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide improves water solubility. Linolenic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide forms lipid nanoparticles for nucleic acid delivery.
